Churchill’s 10 Downing

This adaptive reuse project contributed to the ongoing improvement of Savannah’s historic downtown rehabilitation effort. After decades of neglect, this building, dating to 1869, was sensitively restored using historically-compatible materials and methods in order to achieve federal and state tax credits for historic preservation. The four-story, mixed-use project involved the construction of a rooftop terrace for Churchill’s Pub and a penthouse tower at the rear of the building. A second phase of the project converted the former second-floor offices into a private event space, including a dining room with seating for ninety guests and a private bar opening onto the main restaurant’s rooftop terrace.
