The Second Harvest Food Bank is a 6,000-square-foot production kitchen facility designed to provide up to 5,000 meals to after-school lunch programs throughout the Coastal Georgia area. The facility also serves as a teaching classroom for low-income individuals who want to learn culinary skills for careers in food service. The building was designed to meet LEED NC Silver criteria and also serves as a critical workforce facility capable of withstanding a Category 4 hurricane. The design embraces the industrial character of the existing facility with exposed steel detailing and innovative use of industrial materials.
