Hancock Middle School

Savannah, Georgia, 13,000 sf

This project consisted of the design for a new 13,000sf middle school building on the campus of Hancock Day School. The scope for the project included initial program analysis of the existing facilities and future growth, site analysis and building design. Despite its location behind the existing primary and lower school buildings, the new building will become a "front door" to the middle school.  Connected by covered walkways, the building will complement the existing facilities, providing a new cafeteria for the school as well as granting additional classroom space in the lower school with the relocation of the existing middle school program.  The new facilities were designed with an economy of means in mind but also attention to the quality of space with tall ceilings and ample daylight. The middle school building will be compatible with the existing in scale and materials but will have its own identity at Hancock Day School.
