Beaufort, South Carolina, 18,000 sf
The Pickle Factory was built in Beaufort, South Carolina, circa 1920 along the now abandoned C & W.C. Railroad line. Initially constructed as a meat-packing plant, the building stands as one of the only remaining early-20th-century industrial buildings in the city limits and is now surrounded by a single family residential area. After decades of neglect, the Pickle Factory building is being transformed into 12 urban lofts. Designed as the first LEED-certified building in the City of Beaufort, the Pickle Factory Lofts will be both environmentally responsible and energy efficient.
